Ik ga op vakantie en neem mee...

I'm going on vacation and I'm taking with me...

Do you know that feeling? Every year you vow not to take too much with you on vacation. Unfortunately, I never succeed. Besides enough clothes, I also take many other things with me. If you make the handmade products you sell in your webshop, you also need to take the time to make them. I love picking up a crochet project on vacation too. It doesn't feel like work, and often I have the time to try something new. But I always have to think ahead to go on vacation well prepared.

The preparations start weeks before the vacation. I then ask myself the following questions:

1. Which crochet projects do I want to make.

2. Do I have everything at home?

3. Does it not take up too much space?

4. Can I complete everything with the things I take with me?

And then the challenge is to get it all into that one small bag. Years ago, I bought a Kipling bag that I used during vacation to store some yarn, patterns, crochet hooks, and stuffing wool. That bag has remained the wool bag ever since. But... it has to fit in this bag, otherwise, it's too much that I'm taking with me.

This year is quite a challenge. Why? Not because I took many projects, but because the yarn takes up a lot of space. I'm crocheting several stuffed animals with Durable velvet. 100-gram balls, super big and soft. And for 5 different stuffed animals. It just barely fit... But since I packed the car myself, I managed to sneak some things in, and the stuffing wool is separate 😊.

Halfway through the vacation, I haven't even crocheted and assembled half of what I planned, but a start has been made. My pile of books that I also brought is tempting, and I love reading outside. I only allow myself that time on vacation, so I'm taking that time now! Lovely in the sun if it's not too hot, and otherwise in the shade with just my legs in the sun to try and get some color there...

Enjoy these beautiful days!
