Moominpappa from Lovi proudly wears his distinctive black top hat. In appearance, he is a very traditional Moomin. Under his round snout is a thick belly. His arms and legs are small, and at the end of his long tail is a tassel.

Family is the most important thing in the life of this boyish character, and he is willing to do anything for Moominmamma and Moomintroll. Sometimes life in Moominvalley starts to bore Moominpappa. Then he packs his bags, sometimes his family too, and goes looking for adventures. Often these adventures take place at sea and on nearby islands.

Moominpappa loves the sea and writing. He enjoys talking about the adventures of his youth and diligently writes his memoirs. He loves chatting with guests staying at Moomin House. He often sits on the porch of Moomin House, engrossed in his dreams, with a cup of steaming coffee in his hand.

He is made after the original illustrations by Tove Jansson, the beloved author and illustrator of the Moomin stories. The Moomins are Scandinavian trolls, living in Moominvalley with various characters, and were brought to life by the Finnish writer Tove Jansson (1914-2001). From 1945, a total of 9 books, 5 picture books, and 74 comic strips were released.

All Lovi products are designed by Anne Paso and produced by the family business in Northern Finland. The products are entirely made in Finland from the highest quality birch plywood, true Finnish design! After felling trees, new trees are planted. In Northern Europe, the forest is now growing faster than it is being cut down. Lovi wishes this for the rest of the world as well. Therefore, they donate 5,000 trees annually to areas around the world where these new trees are desperately needed for nature's growth.
