I'm so happy, there's a super nice new product from Belle & Boo ! For years I sold the memory game from Belle & Boo. Unfortunately, it was discontinued a few years ago. Because I received a lot of requests for this memory game, I went looking for an alternative. And I found it! A beautiful new Belle & Boo memory game with beautifully illustrated cards.
Together with a design agency, I designed a new memory game featuring well-known images from the old memory game supplemented with new images. Not completely new Belle & Boo images, but not previously used in a memory game. A fresh new design that is now on sale.
Playing memory is always fun, from young to old, everyone is up for a game of memory. This Belle & Boo memory game is also a perfect gift for a birthday or just for home or on holiday!
But what is the secret of a memory game? Why does everyone, from young to old, enjoy playing this game?
1. How does memory / memo game work
At the start of the game, you place all the cards on the table face down. No peeking! The cards can be placed in neat rows, or they can be scattered for a greater challenge. Once you've decided who starts the memory game, that person turns over the first card, and then another card. If they are not the same, the cards are turned back over, face down. You then go around clockwise if you are playing this game with multiple players. Now it's important to remember where the cards are each time so you can collect sets as quickly as possible. If you find a set, you get another turn. The memory game ends when all the cards are gone. And then it's exciting... who collected the most cards? That's the winner!! Are you playing as an adult against a child? Chances are you've lost....
2. Why are children good at memory?
From a very young age, a child's visual memory is very good. We can rely on our senses early on, and that's why very young children are so good at memory. When it comes to remembering a single image, young children are the best! If you play a puzzle game against a young child, you can, for example, already see a difference in how they place the memo cards. Adults often want to place the cards in rows as a mnemonic, while children don't yet think in categories and can easily play the memory game with all the cards crisscrossed thanks to their visual memory.
3. Why is memory good for children?
Playing a memory card game is also good for children. It can stimulate various aspects of development. A puzzle game like memory can stimulate memory; children are forced to concentrate for a while, so their concentration skills are stimulated. It is also a very good game for language development and cognitive and social development. Because a game of memory doesn't take very long, it is often a game that is played "quickly" in between, for example with grandpa or grandma. Playing a memory game certainly contributes to social development and the bond between the two.
4. Is memory good for your memory?
Because you have to use your memory when playing a memory game, your memory is "on." You are forced to remember the cards to win this game. Playing this puzzle game is definitely a good idea for seniors too. You stimulate your memory, you have to think visually, and through interaction with a fellow player, playing a game together is certainly good for the social aspect. Can you get better at playing a memory game? Absolutely, but you'll have to practice and keep practicing so your memory gets better and better, because active brains stay sharp longer.
5. What do you stimulate with a memory game?
You stimulate cognitive memory during the memory game. While playing, the player tries to remember the cards, and when finding the correct pairs, the cards are picked up using fine motor skills. Both actions are very important for the development of a young child.
